Preparing Next-Gen Talents: Isabelle

“From day one, I was encouraged to ask questions and be curious. Folks here are always willing to guide and mentor me, even if it takes quite a bit of time and effort on their part.” ✨

Hear from our Next-Gen talent, Isabelle Liew from the People & Talent team, as she shares more about how she has the opportunity to partake in high-impact projects, how Coda's core values align with her personal ones and how the environment at Coda has facilitated her career growth. 🙌

Compared to when you first joined Coda as a Talent Development intern, how has your career progressed regarding responsibilities and scale?

During my internship, I played a supporting role where I was assigned tasks that contributed to Coda’s learning & development programme. Since transitioning to full-time employment, I am now fully in charge of end-to-end projects, which include guiding fellow Codans to identify learning & development solutions to resolve skill gaps, securing vendors for in-demand workshops, and assisting employees in any training-related matters.

I believe that my internship experience has helped me to succeed in my current role as a Senior Talent Associate. That is because, at Coda, interns get the opportunity to undertake significant projects and contribute meaningfully to the team - similar to full-time employees!

What motivated you to be a full-time Codan?

The people and culture. From day one, I was encouraged to ask questions and be curious. Folks here are always willing to guide and mentor me, even if it takes quite a bit of time and effort on their part. Coda’s core values align with me personally, we care about our people as much as we care about our customers. Coda believes that employees are not numbers, we are human beings and should be seen and understood as such - which was what I experienced!

How has Coda facilitated and supported your growth?

My manager and I often have developmental chats to identify and align my weak spots and devise plans on how I can ramp up those areas. This includes attending courses/workshops, and when possible, giving me chances to practice those weaker skill sets during real-life tasks.

Share with us an instance where Coda has provided training opportunities, in terms of tools and/or resources, to upgrade your relevant skillsets.

At Coda, I’m encouraged to utilise the training budget by applying for relevant courses to my field of work. I recently attended a 2-day online program about Learning and Development that was hosted by a local university - 100% supported by Coda! This online program helped me gain insights into how the Learning & Development function is not just a cost centre, but a

strategic need that helps organisations achieve their goals by upskilling & reskilling their people. After all, people are at the heart of a company’s success!

Besides external training courses, Coda also has an internal learning platform where I can explore modules to strengthen my general skills and company knowledge.

If her internship experiences resonate with you, we are happy to share that we are looking out for more next-gen talents to join our dynamic team! 😀 Interested to know more? Click here: https://lnkd.in/gTDEZrj
